
Windows Email Configuration For Outlook 2000
This
online manual will guide you through adding your email address(es) to Outlook
2000 for Windows.
To Begin, Open Outlook 2000.
You may have an icon on your desktop, or it may be located on your
START button.

Click the

menu at the top of the window

ADD
button and select
MAIL
|

If you would like to import email and your address book from Outlook
Express, select
Outlook Express.
Otherwise, select
None of the above

You will be prompted with information about Internet Mail

Enter your name in the
Display Name
box
|

Enter your
email address
in the
E-mail address box.
Your email address will be similar to the one displayed to the left.
For example, my email address is; kevinh@21labs.com

Be sure that
POP3
is selected next to "my
incoming mail server is a _ server"

In the
Incoming Mail
box, enter your mail server name. For example: mail.21labs.com

In the
Outgoing Mail
box, enter your mail server name. For example:
mail.21labs.com

In the
Account Name box,
enter your
login name,
which is your full email address. An example would be jerry@bigdomain.com

Put a check next to
Remember Password
if there is not already

In the
Password
box, enter your
password.
The password will be at least 5 letters and/or numbers

DO NOT check
the box next to "log on using Secure Password Authentication"

Select
I will establish my Internet Connection Manually

You should now be seeing the congratulations screen. This completes
the setup of your email address.

If you wish to add another email address using the same inbox,
return to the beginning and
repeat for the next email address

NOW FOR THE CONFIGURATION PART.
From
the tools menu, select Accounts and you will see the screen below. |

Click on the account you just created, or
want to modify, and click the properties button. You will
see the screen below. |

Enter your Name in the Name field, and your email
address in the E-mail address: field.
Select the Servers TAB at the top and you will see the screen below. |

For your Incoming/Outgoing
mail server (POP3/SMTP) information: enter the following "type of
information"
mail.domain-name.com
"My" information is shown on
the left:
POP3
mail.21labs.com
SMTP
mail.21labs.com
Enter your full email
address for the account name.
Enter your password and check
the box to remember password.
Check the box for My server
requires authentication.
Click the Settings button and
you will see the screen below. |

Select the first option to Use same settings as my
incoming mail server. Click the OK button and you will see the next
screen below. |

Set you Advanced screen to look exactly like the one to
the right.
If you keep mail on the server, your quota may be exceeded, and you
might not be able to receive email.
Click the OK button and you are done. |
